FOIA Request to Wyoming Secretary of State Elections Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

At SE Wyoming News, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our mission, we have sent a request under the Wyoming Sunshine Law, §16-4-201 et seq., to the Wyoming Secretary of State Elections for information about the candidates running in the upcoming elections.

The requested records include a list of all candidates that are running for office in the forthcoming election. We asked for details such as each candidate’s first, middle and last name, the office they are running for, their jurisdiction, and party affiliation.

In addition to this, we also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number and email address.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We look forward to receiving this information from the Wyoming Secretary of State Elections so that we can continue our work informing the public about their potential representatives in government.
