Senator Cynthia Lummis has introduced the Protecting Access to Recreation with Cash (PARC) Act, a bill aimed at ensuring that National Park Service (NPS) units accept cash for entrance fees. The current policy allows each park to decide whether or not to accept cash, which can limit access for visitors who prefer or rely on cash payments.
“The beauty of our nation’s parks should be open to all visitors, not just those with credit or debit cards,” stated Lummis. “Wyoming takes immense pride in our state’s natural treasures, and accepting cash payments allows people from the Cowboy State and around the world access to our indescribable landscapes. I’m proud to lead the charge to make our National Parks accessible to everyone.”
The legislation is supported by Senators Roger Marshall, Jim Risch, Mike Crapo, Shelley Moore Capito, Jim Justice, John Barrasso, and John Boozman.
Currently, at least 25 National Park units have stopped accepting cash payments for entrance fees. This includes Devils Tower in Wyoming.
