Today, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis met with Pete Hegseth, the nominee for Secretary of Defense under President Donald Trump. Following their meeting, Senator Lummis issued a statement expressing her support for Hegseth’s nomination.
Senator Lummis criticized the current administration’s military policies and expressed confidence in Hegseth’s ability to lead the Department of Defense effectively. “For years, the Biden administration has made our nation look weak on the world stage, emboldening our enemies and pushing radical military policies,” she stated.
Lummis praised Hegseth’s qualifications, citing his extensive service to the nation as a key factor in her support. She emphasized her belief that he would reverse certain policies within the military. “Pete Hegseth’s extensive service to our nation makes him uniquely qualified to serve as Defense Secretary, and I am confident he will revoke the woke policies that have infiltrated the military and restore our fighting forces,” she said.
The senator concluded by stressing the importance of building a strong U.S. military. “We need to build a U.S. military Americans can be proud of, and Pete Hegseth will be the one to do it,” Lummis added.
