Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Wyoming

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Wyoming, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Wyoming residents paid $5,400 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $183 more than the $5,217 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 223.9 percent more than residents this year, or $17,490. Their price tag grew 3.9 percent from $16,827 in 2017-18.

About 47 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Wyoming residents. About 51 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 96 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,495 students received grants or scholarships totaling $12.1 million and 847 students took out student loans totaling more than $5.6 million.

Including all undergraduates (12,450), 7,034 students used grants or scholarships totaling $53.2 million, and 3,730 students took out $24.9 million in federal student loans.
