Mayor Byron W. Brown announced the lifting of the travel ban in the City of Buffalo, effective 12:01AM
on Thursday, December 29, 2022. Simultaneously, Mayor Brown announced the travel ban has been replaced with a travel
advisory, until further notice, as crews continue their snow removal and hauling efforts which involve a large amount of
equipment and heavy vehicles on City streets.
“Our goal was to make significant progress today in clearing our roads of vehicles and snow so that we could lift the ban
in the City of Buffalo tonight and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” stated Mayor Brown. “While we’re lifting the travel ban
and replacing it with a travel advisory, we are still encouraging people to be careful. I want to thank DPW Commissioner
Nate Marton for spearheading this coordinated snow removal process, as well as our dedicated City snow fighting crews,
contractors and the many other workers from municipalities and agencies all across the state and beyond who came
in to assist. This was an amazing achievement given the blizzard conditions of this past weekend and we are deeply
appreciative.”
Tonight, Mayor Brown also announced Buffalo City Hall will be open on Thursday, December 29, 2022. He also announced
trash and recycling pick-up in the City of Buffalo remains suspended indefinitely and asked City residents not to put out
their totes. Additionally, alternate parking regulations on side streets will remain suspended until further notice. Other

Abandoned vehicles found in the streets will be towed and removed. If your vehicle was towed, please reach out to the

Lives Lost
Earlier today, City officials reported storm-related deaths were still at 28 in the City of Buffalo. The city will continue to
provide the public with updates on the lives lost to this storm.
Looting Taskforce
The City of Buffalo Police Department continues its investigation into looting at local stores. Nearly ten arrests have been
made so far, with more expected. Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents, or other storm-related breakins,
is urged to call or text the confidential TIP CALL LINE at 716-847-2255.
National Grid Reimbursement
If your power was out for 72 hours or more during last weekend’s storm, National Grid might be able to reimburse families
and small businesses for the loss of food and/or medicine.
Claims must be filed in 14 days. Residents can apply on the National Grid website or call 315-428-3370.
