U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) has expressed her opposition to the recently passed supplemental funding package, which aims to provide billions of dollars in foreign aid. In a statement issued today, Senator Lummis highlighted her concerns about the impact of the package on the national debt and the welfare of Wyoming families.
"At a time when Wyoming families are suffering due to inflation directly caused by this administration's spending spree, we cannot continue irresponsibly printing money to address crises overseas without doing anything to fix the very serious problems our own country faces including at our southern border," Senator Lummis stated. She emphasized that while she remains concerned about the situations in both Israel and Ukraine, she cannot support efforts to add $95 billion to the already staggering national debt.
The supplemental funding package passed the Senate with a vote of 70-29. Senator Lummis' opposition reflects the growing concern among some lawmakers about the increasing national debt and the prioritization of foreign aid over domestic issues.
