This week, Senate Western Caucus Chair Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) announced the addition of U.S. Senators John Curtis (R-UT) and Tim Sheehy (R-MT) to the Senate Western Caucus.
“I am thrilled to welcome Senator Curtis and Senator Sheehy to the Senate Western Caucus,” said Lummis. “As new Senators from Utah and Montana, Senators Curtis and Sheehy will contribute greatly to the caucus goals of promoting western values in Washington. I am eager to partner with them on repealing the disastrous Biden-Harris policies that have decimated the west and increasing the power of western voices in the Senate.”
Senator Tim Sheehy expressed his enthusiasm for joining the caucus, stating, “No state embodies the spirit of the American west better than Montana, which is why I’m proud to join my colleagues in the Western Caucus who are fighting to protect our shared heritage and values.” He emphasized their commitment: “Together, we will stand up for farmers, ranchers, and hardworking families across the west who have been left behind by politicians and bureaucrats in D.C. and ensure our treasured way of life is protected.”
Senator John Curtis also shared his thoughts on joining: “I’m so pleased to join the Senate Western Caucus and continue advocating for the values that define Utah– responsible land management, energy independence, and a commitment to preserving our natural resources for future generations.” He highlighted both challenges and opportunities facing western communities: “The west faces unique challenges and opportunities, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure our communities thrive.”
The Senate Western Caucus consists of 29 Senators from states west of the Mississippi River dedicated to upholding fundamental western principles such as self-reliance, local decision-making, love of land, and pioneer spirit.
