Senator Cynthia Lummis, Chair of the Senate Western Caucus, has joined forces with Senator John Hoeven and Congressman August Pfluger to reintroduce a Congressional Review Act resolution. This move aims to block the Biden administration's Natural Gas Tax, which was part of the Inflation Reduction Act enacted in 2022.
"This onerous natural gas tax was a key component of President Biden’s crusade to cripple western energy production," stated Senator Lummis. She expressed her commitment to collaborating with Senator Hoeven and Congressman Pfluger to oppose what she described as "shortsighted, anti-energy legislation."
Senator Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, emphasized the challenges faced in reducing prices and securing America's energy future. He criticized policies like the Natural Gas Tax for increasing production costs and limiting resource utilization. "Through efforts like this CRA resolution, we are working to get our nation back on the right track," he said.
Congressman Pfluger echoed these sentiments, pointing out that former President Biden's policies had negatively impacted energy producers in his district. He attributed increased costs and emissions to what he called "Biden’s burdensome natural gas tax." With President Trump now in office, Pfluger advocates for restoring American energy dominance through rescinding this tax.
The bill led by Hoeven and Pfluger is supported by several senators including Shelley Moore Capito, Mike Lee, James Lankford, Katie Britt, Steve Daines, Roger Marshall, Kevin Cramer, Cynthia Lummis herself among others.
