Senators Cynthia Lummis, Mike Crapo, and Jim Risch have expressed their approval of Tom Schultz's appointment as the 21st chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The announcement was made in Washington, D.C., highlighting Schultz's extensive experience in natural resource management.

Senate Western Caucus Chair Cynthia Lummis stated, “President Trump and Secretary Rollins have made a great choice in naming Tom Schultz to lead the U.S. Forest Service.” She emphasized Schultz's background as a University of Wyoming graduate and his potential to bring balance back to the agency through responsible logging and management.

Senator Jim Risch praised Schultz for his over 27 years of experience, describing him as "a forester’s forester." He added that Schultz is "the no-nonsense leader our Western states urgently need to rein in the wildfire crisis and reinforce forest health." Risch also noted that Schultz's selection highlights President Trump and Secretary Rollins' recognition of Idahoans' contributions.

Senator Mike Crapo remarked on Schultz’s valuable experience gained from his service in Idaho. “Tom Schultz’s deep on-the-ground experience and skills, including his long-time service in Idaho, will be critically useful as he manages our federal forests,” said Crapo.

Tom Schultz has previously held significant roles such as vice president of resources and government affairs at Idaho Forest Group and director of the Idaho Department of Lands. His educational background includes degrees from the University of Virginia, University of Wyoming, and University of Montana.
