The University of Wyoming will hold its spring commencement ceremonies on May 16, according to a May 8 announcement. The university plans four separate events that day to confer degrees upon a total of 2,105 students.

Commencement is an important milestone for graduating students and their families. The ceremonies recognize the achievements of undergraduates, graduate students, law students, and pharmacy students at the university.

All ceremonies are free and open to the public. Most events will take place in the Arena-Auditorium, except for the College of Law ceremony, which is scheduled in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts. Ceremonies will also be livestreamed on YouTube and WyoCast; links will be available on the UW commencement webpage at www.uwyo.edu/commencement/index.html.

Graduates are asked to arrive at War Memorial Fieldhouse one hour before their respective ceremony start times. Parking and shuttle information is available online.

Carol Tomé, chief executive officer of UPS and a University of Wyoming alumna, will serve as keynote speaker for three graduation ceremonies. Tomé earned her undergraduate degree in communication from UW and holds a master’s degree in finance from the University of Denver. She has received honorary doctoral degrees from several institutions recognizing her leadership in business and public service.

Tomé was born in Jackson and has maintained ties with Wyoming throughout her career. In addition to receiving UW’s Distinguished Alumna Award in 2011, she launched the Tomé Scholars to Fellow Program in 2021 to support undergraduates pursuing science, technology, engineering, arts or mathematics degrees at UW. Her professional accolades include being named multiple times among Fortune’s “Most Powerful Women in Business” as well as Forbes’ “World’s Most Powerful Women.”

The schedule includes an undergraduate ceremony at 8 a.m., College of Law ceremony at 10 a.m., graduate degree recipients’ ceremony at 12:30 p.m., and another undergraduate ceremony at 3:30 p.m., each designated for specific colleges within UW. Details about each event are provided by the university online.

UW-Casper’s spring commencement is scheduled separately for May 18 at Ford Wyoming Center.
