The University of Wyoming College of Education recognized faculty members, staff, and students for their accomplishments at the final college meeting of the academic year on May 8.
The awards highlighted contributions in teaching, research, service, advising, and student leadership within the college. The event served to acknowledge individuals who have made significant impacts in their respective areas during the past academic year.
Barbara Hickman received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Teaching. Miriam Sanders was honored with the Faculty Award for Outstanding Research and Scholarship. Alison Mercier was presented with the Faculty/Staff Award for Service to the Educational Profession. Jessie Marcolini and Julianna Worden were both recognized with the Award for Outstanding Advising. Charlie Yarchin received the Staff Award for Outstanding Service to the College, while Levi Moore was acknowledged with the Award for Outstanding Contributions Toward Improving the Climate of the College.
Among student honorees were Melena Osborne (Outstanding Graduate Student Award) and Darwin St. Clair III (Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award). The John P. “Jack” Ellbogen Dean’s Fund Undergraduate Student Leadership Awards went to Shelby Williams, Joseph Kennah, and Laynee Walker. Jihyun Lee was named recipient of the Patricia McClurg Education Faculty Fellowship.
Additional recognitions included Promoting Intellectual Engagement Awards given to Nikki Baldwin and Joe Russo; UW Early-Career Graduate Faculty Mentor Award presented to Sanders; Excellence in Experiential Education Award given to Baldwin; Presidential Scholarly Award for Early Career Faculty awarded to JP Han; College of Education Excellence Award for Student Engagement presented to Joe Schroer; John P. “Jack” Ellbogen Dean’s Distinguished Staff Award given to Stefan Robinson; and John P. “Jack” Ellbogen Dean’s Award for Excellence in Wyoming Outreach awarded to Margaret Hudson, Rob Hill, and Baldwin.
Recipients of this year’s John P. “Jack” Ellbogen Dean’s Outstanding Dissertation Awards—Aaron Nydam (Ed.D.), Anne Sudmeier (Ph.D.), Jeffery Lewis (Ed.D.), and Melena Osborne (Ed.D.)—will be recognized at an upcoming ceremony.
