The University of Wyoming football team announced on April 27 that it will partner with “Get in the Game” to encourage people to register as potential donors in the National Marrow Donor Program.
The event aims to increase awareness and participation in blood stem cell donation, which can be critical for patients needing transplants. Organizers say registering is a simple process that could make a significant difference for those awaiting matches.
Team members and volunteers will be present at the Wyoming Union breezeway from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, helping people sign up for the donor registry. The process involves a quick swab and takes only a short time to complete.
Joe Caulfield, associate athletics director for football operations at the university, is organizing the event. Members of the campus NMDP program and an NMDP staff member will also be available during the event to provide information and assistance.
More information about “Get in the Game” and how to participate can be found at the official NMDP website.
Efforts like these are part of ongoing campaigns across campuses nationwide aimed at increasing donor registrations.
