I spent last week in Cody for the Wyoming Association of Municipalities’ annual convention. I really do enjoy spending time with other mayors and council members from across the state. I was tasked with chairing our resolution committee.
After a 3-year hiatus, the annual Freedom Has a Birthday presented by Rocky Mountain Power will be bringing back its Horseshoe Tournament! Registration and the Tournament will be held at the Washington Park Horseshoe Pits with registration from 9 AM to 10 AM and the tournament beginning at 10:30 AM on July 4, 2023.
Due to the Juneteenth holiday on Monday, June 19, city offices will be closed, and next week’s Finance and Public Services Committee meetings have been adjusted.
The Cheyenne Urban Forestry Division will place “Please Don’t Feed Squirrels” signs throughout Cheyenne parks in response to an abnormally high population of destructive squirrels.

The Office of Youth Alternatives’ ACCISS Program is hosting its free annual summer program at East High School, located at 2800 East Pershing Blvd., from Tuesday, June 20 through Friday, August 4, from 12 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Cheyenne Fire Rescue (CFR) personnel are completing training on a new apparatus that will assist with response to grass and brush fires. Brush 3 will be placed into service July 1st, 2023, at Station 3 at 1720 Cleveland Avenue.

The Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14th at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in Room 104 at 2101 O’Neil Avenue with an option to join via Zoom.

On Saturday, June 3rd at 6:30 a.m., Cheyenne Fire Rescue (CFR) was dispatched to a railcar that was emitting smoke. Upon arrival, just east of the original dispatched address, a semi-trailer loaded on a flatbed railcar had moderate smoke coming from the interior of the trailer.
Mayor Patrick Collins accepted an $80,000 check from the Kiwanis Club of Cheyenne on Thursday, June 1, on behalf of The City of Cheyenne. The funds will be used to construct amenities at Kiwanis Community Park.
